WWF nature mission «Meienmoos», 7 March 2026, 3400 Burgdorf
Meienmoos near Burgdorf is a raised bog of national importance – valuable for biodiversity and climate protection. In a new, long-term project, we are supporting the canton with important maintenance work: We are removing alders, willows, and especially alder buckthorns from the central raised bog area to prevent the bog from becoming overgrown and drying out. This will create space for it to grow again and fulfill its valuable function. Using tools such as cross-cut hoes and Habegger rope pulls, we will work together – strengthening not only the bog, but also our team spirit.
Date: 7 March 2026, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; meeting point S4 from Bern to Lyssach, then approx. 15 minutes on foot
Included for you: a shared lunch, because nature conservation makes you hungry! More details about equipment to bring and registration deadline on the event page.

Cherry and magnolia blossom, March and April, 1170 Aubonne
Japanese people rave about the «Sakura», the Japanese cherry blossom. But the fact is that thanks to the arboretum in the Aubonne Valley, we have nothing to envy the land of the rising sun. The arboretum has an impressive collection of cherry and magnolia trees that bloom every year in March and April. Like an open-air museum, the arboretum plants trees of the same variety together. And these small families are beautiful and also very convenient for bees, because they can easily fly from one flower to the next. Dozens of cherry and magnolia trees create a floral firework display with their spectacular, almost unreal blooms. Guided tours of the trees in bloom are organized on a regular basis.
