Maienzug-Brunnen, 5.07.2024, 5000 Aarau
38 fountains and the Heinrich Zschokke statue are elaborately decorated with flowers every year on the first Friday in July, from traditional to fancy. Maienzug, by the way, has nothing to do with the month of May. 400 years ago, there was an old school custom. Teachers went with their students into the forest to cut fresh rods. At that time, rods were also called «Meyen», which gave the Maienzug its name. A team of city guides will share historical facts, anecdotes, and stories about the Maienzug at several locations.
