Blue for boys, pink for girls? That is the rule today. But interestingly, before the First World War, pink was associated with boys. Red was considered a symbol of masculinity, which is why pink – known as «little red» – was used exclusively for boys. When blue naval uniforms and workwear became widespread during the war, blue suddenly became associated with men and light blue with little boys. Pink therefore became the colour for little girls.

Wine or prosecco? Not a good idea for breastfeeding mothers

Of course, it would be lovely to raise a glass of prosecco or wine to celebrate the new addition to the family. But experts advise against it. You may hear that an occasional glass of wine is fine. However, a breastfeeding break of at least two and a half hours would be necessary to ensure that no alcohol remains in the blood or breast milk. To be on the safe side, it is therefore best to avoid alcohol and, if appropriate, raise a glass with the new father and the family instead.
